...is the global coalition for direct democracy. We are individual citizens and non-governmental organizations. Our basic goal is the establishment of direct democracy (initiative and referendum) as a complement to representative democracy throughout the world and at all levels of government: local, regional, national and transnational.
In addition, we advise citizens on how to conduct successful citizens’ initiatives at all levels.

Since 2002 people from all over the world work together to promote the idea of more direct democracy and citizens' participation. We achieved to raise awareness for the democratic deficit of the EU and proposed the European Citizens' Initiative. After being a network for nine years, 2011 our activists came together in Brussels and founded Democracy International:
