Austria: 73% for Referendum
According to a recent poll a majority of Austrian citizens demand a referendum on the EU Constitution.
73% of the 400 respondents said that they are in favour of such a vote.
Remarkable is the result on the knowledge about the Constitution: 51% haven't read in it so far and do not intend to make up for it. 27 % said, that they intend to deal with the Constitution. Only 21% stated, that they have read at least some parts of the constitution.
The Austrian Parliament already ratified the EU Constitution.
In France more than one million books were sold on the EU Constitution, as Democracy International has found out. This figures proof: a referendum raises the awareness even on complicated topics as the EU Constitution.
