Dear ,

Do you have trust in institutions, media, citizens - trust in (direct) democracy?

You are invited to join us in Romania very soon — from 13 to 18 May 2024 — as we attempt to answer that big question.

We are thrilled that the upcoming 2024 Global Forum on Modern Direct Democracy is set to take place in Bucharest, Romania. This edition will focus on the theme of trust, with a spotlight on the biggest global election year ever.

The 2024 Global Forum on Modern Direct Democracy will span over six days, including three days of pre-tour in Bucharest and four days of on-site activities. The programme includes a wide variety of activities such as site visits, plenaries, keynotes, workshops, networking opportunities, and intimate conversations centred around the future of democracy and direct citizen-decision-making.

At this Global Forum, we aim to address the critical issue of trust - in our institutions, in the media, and in each other, especially in times of democratic backsliding worldwide. Have a closer look at the thematic focus of the event here.

We are genuinely looking forward to your participation at the Global Forum. Your insights and contributions are going to be part of our journey to deepen our understanding and reinforce trust within our democratic systems. We are eager to engage with you in meaningful discussions and cannot wait to welcome you to the beautiful city of Bucharest.

We will keep you updated with all the necessary details about the event, including accommodation options and our detailed programme.

Please feel free to reach out to us on info@2024globalforum.com if you have questions.

We look forward to see you in Bucharest!

Democratically yours,

Caroline Vernaillen & Tana Foarfă
Co-Chairs, Global Forum on Modern Direct Democracy
