Biography
Marie Lehnert studied Political Science at the University of Duisburg-Essen. In her Master's degree she specialised in Comparative Politics and Political Theory, with a particular focus on the transformation and comparison of political systems.
Prior to joining Democracy International, she gained five years of experience at Mehr Demokratie e.V. as a Senior Fundraising Manager. In this role, she worked on fundraising and project development and was part of the team responsible for implementing the first Citizens’ Assembly initiated by the German Bundestag.
Responsibilities
- Developing and designing project proposals at the national level
- Overseeing and coordinating EU funding applications and facilitating cooperation with international project partners
- Maintaining and developing relationships with funding partners
- Diversifying funding sources
- Developing project budgets
