Democracy Explorers

Project status
Ongoing

Democracy Explorers equips our staff and learners with new skills, perspectives, and methods in democracy promotion and education.

Democracy Explorers combines various pillars:

  • internal courses and trainings
  • a job shadowing experience, and
  • two democracy study trips to Slovenia and Poland that are open to external democracy enthusiasts.

In each international exchange, participants will explore innovative and inclusive citizen participation approaches, engage with best practices from across Europe, and gain knowledge that is not yet widely available in Germany. Participants will be introduced to practical tools for participation, consensus-building, and resilience, enabling them to take an active role in democratic life.

The project places a strong focus on reaching new and diverse learner groups, particularly individuals with fewer opportunities, and ensuring that educational offers are accessible, engaging, and empowering.

At the same time, staff will strengthen their competencies in inclusive project management, training delivery, fundraising, and accessible communication. Ultimately, Democracy Explorers will increase the quality and impact of democracy initiatives, fostering greater democratic engagement, knowledge, and resilience.
