Three Days of Action on Democracy & Climate Justice
2–4 March 2026
Three Days of Action on Democracy & Climate Justice took place from 2–4 March, bringing together activists, researchers, policymakers, and engaged citizens to explore participatory and direct democracy tools for climate justice.
Across three days, participants exchanged ideas on how people-powered democracy can support meaningful climate action, challenge extractive interests, and strengthen solutions rooted in participation and justice — locally, nationally, and across borders.
Programme
18:00–21:00
Our doors open at 17:30 for you.
Opening evening
We warmly invite you to the official launch of the multi-country project Citizens for Climate.
About the Project: Citizens for Climate gathers best practices in participatory climate governance from seven EU Member States. Together, we are creating a comprehensive report — the Climate Participation Booklet — showcasing innovative democratic tools that empower citizens to shape climate policy.
Be among the first to learn about the project’s goals, vision, and expected impact.
World Premiere: People.Power.Planet.
The evening continues with the world premiere of our documentary: People.Power.Planet. explores how citizens are shaping responses to the climate crisis in Latin America and beyond. The film weaves together powerful stories from Chile, Brazil, and Ecuador, showing how communities across diverse contexts:
Engage directly in public decision-making
- Defend democratic space
- Challenge extractive industries
- Develop participatory responses to the climate crisis
At a time of democratic and environmental strain, the film offers a timely reflection on the transformative role of citizen participation.
Moderated Discussion
Following the screening, join us for a conversation with: Dr. Clara Egger, Board Member, Democracy International and Klara Butz, Campaigner, urgewald.
Together, we will reflect on the relevance of citizen participation in addressing today’s global environmental and governance challenges.
Reception
The evening concludes with a reception and refreshments — an opportunity to connect, exchange ideas, and continue the conversation.
10:00–18:00
