Report online consultation – A Stronger EU for the World

We are pleased to announce the draft publication of the results of the Online Consultation – A Stronger EU for the World, conducted as part of the EU for Global project. This initiative, led by a consortium of seven EU civil society organisations and one university, aims to strengthen transnational democracy by fostering inclusive participation and amplifying underrepresented voices.

Over the span of three months, the consultation gathered insights from 411 participants across more than 21 countries. The consultation sought to evaluate perceptions of the European Union’s global role, the accessibility of democratic instruments, and the values associated with the EU. Key themes included democratic participation, climate and environment, solidarity, and disinformation and media literacy.

A major focus of the project was reaching traditionally underrepresented groups. Notably, 38% of participants identified as belonging to such groups, with 9.23% indicating a disability. The survey also reflected strong youth participation, with an average age of 35 and a median age of 30, highlighting the engagement of younger generations in shaping transnational democracy.

Participants’ contributions will directly inform the work of EU for Global partners, shaping the upcoming Citizens’ Panels and guiding recommendations that will be presented to high-level EU representatives in 2026. The consultation process was hosted on the interactive Consul platform, allowing participants to not only respond to questions but also propose, debate, and vote on ideas.

We invite all stakeholders and interested citizens to review the draft results and contribute to the ongoing discussion. The final outcomes will play a crucial role in shaping the EU’s approach to global policy and participatory democracy.

Stay tuned for further updates and details on the upcoming Citizens’ Panels!
