Thank you!
With your help, we were able to present over 100,000 signatures to the European Commission!
But our work has just started. In the months ahead, we will strengthen our campaigns to put a spotlight on the ECI’s reform. We will continue to host public events and maintain pressure on the EU to take the ECI reform seriously while raising awareness for the ECI itself. But it takes resources to do this. Please support our campaign with your donation!

Democracy International and our partners mobilized over 5,000 people to participate in the Commission’s Public Consultation questionnaire on the European Citizens’ Initiative, which closed on August 16th after 12 weeks.
Throughout August, Democracy International, Mehr Demokratie, The ECI Campaign, WeMove.eu and ECAS co-launched a petition demanding that the Commission take the ECI revision process seriously and consider our proposals. We collected over 100,000 signatures of support! The remarkable number of citizens’ support sent a clear message to the Commission.
Finally, on August 30th, we had a long meeting with First Vice President of the European Commission, Frans Timmermans, regarding the ECI, our proposals for ECI reform, and the general future of Europe.
Timmermans confirmed that the ECI will see a revision proposal before 2018! It’s not too late to join our petition to maintain pressure on the EU to strengthen the ECI or risk losing the only tool of transnational participatory democracy that exists: https://www.democracy-international.org/call-revision-eci
Watch here our video of the ECI Rescue Team's journey to Brussels to present the Commission our demands and, at that time, over 80,000 signatures of physical evidence that Europeans demand an ECI that works!
